5 Fall MUST-DO Date Ideas

Just because the weather is cooling down, doesn’t mean your dating life needs to freeze over. Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year and let’s face it, when you’re looking to start a relationship or in a budding relationship, isn’t every season the most romantic season? So, whether you’ve been dating someone exclusively, or looking for something fun to do on your second or third date, you’re in luck because the fall activities are endless.

Apple Orchard!

Who doesn’t love the traditional fall activity of apple picking and all the bonus fun at most of the farms. The fresh air and energy of everything from apple and pumpkin picking to the animals and activities, bring out the child in all of us. That playful energy can be so attractive and fun - setting the perfect stage for a great date! While you are there, hit up the bakery for fresh goodies and don’t forget a spiced cider or two. Test out your navigational skills together in a corn maze, this is a great way to have some hidden moments with your special someone or make it into a competition and see who can make it out first.

You can even make this trip into a day full of activities. While you’re there, pick out a pumpkin to carve and some apples to make a pie or two and head home to bake while you spend more quality time together.

Dinner & A Movie… But Make it Spooky!

If you and your date are adrenaline junkies then this is a great one! Pick up some fall treats and come prepared with your favorite scary movie. Fall is the best time to snuggle up to your date, and what’s better for bringing you closer together than a scary movie? Our Matchmaker approved scary movies are: any of the Michael Myers - Halloween movies, Children of the Corn, Nightmare on Elm street and Friday the 13th, but those are just the basics - there are plenty of movies that will get your heart racing!

If you don’t like scary movies, that’s okay too, you can easily choose a different movie that interests you. The overall point is just to spend time together, doing something you will both enjoy.

Take a Hike!

We have said it before, and we will say it again – get outside and get active! Getting active on a date can increase your endorphins which is a huge mood booster. And when you’re happy and having a good time, it’s going to leave a lasting impression. So, put on your hiking shoes or sneakers and check out some local trails known for their beautiful scenery. The views are sure to not disappoint as the leaves turn different shades of picturesque oranges and reds. And make sure you bring layers to ensure you are comfortable, temperatures in the fall fluctuate - so be prepared.

Cider Crawl!

Head to the local hot spots for ciders and brews. The two of you can walk from location to location and spend time getting to know each other while you try something new on each menu. If there are no local places you want to check out – become your own bartender and make some seasonal signature cocktails together by your personal fire pit. Who doesn’t love a hot spiked apple cider by a warm and cozy fire...and think ahead, don’t forget ingredients for s'mores too!

Create Your Own Tailgate!

Even though not everyone loves to watch football, who doesn’t love a great tailgate? We know tailgating season looks different this year, but it doesn’t have to stop you from creating your own tailgate. Break out your favorite appetizers, get the grill fired-up and invite your date and even some friends to have fun in your backyard for some crisp fall air, good food and great company. Maybe even put out the bean bags (ie cornhole), get the game on a screen outside and pump some gameday tunes. This is a fun way to get everyone involved, and an easy, no pressure avenue to introduce your new relationship to your friends - a definite recipe for a successful date and good time.
